Terms and license

Last updated: 19 October 2026

In short: Areacast is free to use, with a small badge in what you share. A lifetime license for one person removes it, on all of your own Macs. Please don't share your license key.

Who we are

Areacast is made by Code Mountain (VAT BE0761429808), Belgium, bruno@codemountain.be. These terms apply to the Areacast app and to licenses bought for it.

Using Areacast for free

You may download and use Areacast for free, for personal and work use, with every feature. In the free version, a small "Shared with Areacast" badge appears in what you share and record. You may hide it a few times for free, each time until you quit the app.

The lifetime license

Buying

Licenses are sold through Gumroad, which processes the payment and taxes as the seller of record. Prices are in US dollars; VAT or sales tax may be added depending on where you live. Because the license key is delivered right away and you can try every feature for free first, purchases are not refundable, unless the law requires otherwise. If something doesn't work, email us and we'll help.

What you may not do

Don't copy and distribute modified versions of Areacast, and don't use it to break the law or other people's rights. You're responsible for what you share and record, and for having permission to record others.

No warranty

We work hard to make Areacast reliable, but it's provided "as is", without warranties. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect damage, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license. This doesn't limit any rights you have as a consumer under the law.

Open source

Areacast uses Sparkle for updates, which is open-source software under the MIT license. Its license is included in the app (Areacast → About Areacast).

Law

These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms; the new version appears on this page with a new date. Changes don't take away rights you already have under a license you bought.
